At Cynozure, our business is all about positive use of data. It’s what gets us out of bed in the morning and is what we’re passionate for every day as we sit down to work. As a company and Crew our ambition is to instil our enthusiasm and passion for data in the customers and businesses we serve day-to-day. We’re lucky to say that the organisations we are fortunate to work with are typically closely aligned with our passions and ideals.
But this isn’t true in every situation; in some cases trust in the use of data is challenged. And rightly so. It is fair to say that there are some pretty high-profile instances of negative use of data, that has not been to the benefit of society – notably involving social media.
Organisations (including Cynozure) that strive to promote the use of data in an open and positive manner, have a responsibility to re-build trust in data. This is why, at Cynozure, our attitude towards data is reflected in a clear mission statement:

The CDO Hub has also grown in stature, and now counts members from around 15-20 countries worldwide, as it continues to thrive as an active and engaged community. Cynozure has grown, and as this growth continues we’re keen to keep creating a better future for all, not just through the open and positive sue of data, but through the business we’ve created.
It’s important to us that Cynozure continues to operate in a socially responsible way, and ensure that our decisions make a positive impact towards people and planet, and not just profit. We believe we are already making great strides forward in this endeavour; however. we need to do more and CAN do more. We want to make our business a force for good and be held to account on this.
Since 2006, B Lab has focused on the idea of creating a different kind of economy, one that is not only possible but necessary for businesses to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.
B Lab has become known for the B Corp Accreditation, a certification which is only granted to businesses that meet their high standards and make a long lasting formal commitment to positive change.
Across the globe there are over 2,000 B Corp certified companies, operating in more than 150 industries and 60 countries. In gaining B Corp accreditation Cynozure will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with organisations that are also focused on making business a force for good. Many household names, such Ben and Jerry’s, Patagonia, The Body Shop are already part of the B Corp movement.

We like the analogy that B Corp is to business what Fair-trade is to coffee. It offers a clear framework to ensure that we as a business are held accountable for delivering on our positive social and environmental objectives, and continue to operate Cynozure in a socially responsible way.
